The facilities for cooking at Kalalasi Primary School in the past were rudimentary (see picture, left), with consequences to the health of those preparing the meals – cooking was done over an open fire, with no chimney or ventilation.
We decided to raise the £500 needed for the construction of a more functional facility. Thanks to the continued generosity of our supporters, a summer garden party in 2014 raised the relevant funds and the community now benefits from the results.
